Feline Sensitivity

Cats have a delicate endocrine system and products that are safe for dogs can be harmful to cats. One of the most common medical conditions affecting cats is allergies.

An allergy occurs when the cat's immune system over-reacts or is hypersensitive to foreign substances known as allergens. Allergens are either ingested, inhaled or topical that has come in contact with your cat.  Examples that are often the problem are pesticides, essential oils, and even some grooming products.

That’s why all of our Pure and Natural Pet feline grooming & wellness products are free of perfumes, dyes and harmful essential oils. Our natural products are purr-fect for cats.

We created a helpful document on Essential Oils and How They Can Affect Cats. Essential oils in a variety of applications have been used on cats for many years with no adverse effects. When using essential oils on cats, there are several things to keep in mind for “safe usage” to keep your cat healthy and safe. Since essential oils come from the deepest part of a plant, it stands to reason that people would think that any essential oil that is derived from a plant that is known to be toxic would have an adverse effect on a cat. It is important to note that some plants that are listed as toxic do not produce toxic essential oils. There are also some essential oils that can be toxic if ingested, though the plant they come from is harmless.

Toxicity can come from certain compounds in certain essential oils. A cat’s liver can’t metabolize these compounds like a human’s liver can. Cats lack an important chemical that’s responsible for the breakdown of substances that enter the body. Phenols are a group of compounds which can be toxic to cats if overexposed. In particular; cinnamon, clove, thyme, and oregano topically. Monoterpene Hydrocarbons (Terpenes) are another group of compounds found in essential oils that can be harmful when ingested or applied topically to cats. It’s highly concentrated in oils like pine, cajeput, and petitgrain essential oils. Essential oils that include phenols and terpenes should NOT be used topically, even if diluted.

Cats are great at self-cleaning, but sometimes they need a little help. When looking for a pet-friendly shampoo that’s safe for your cats, make sure you’re looking at the ingredients. Our natural Tearless Cat Shampoo is free of chemical surfactants, because your pets and the environment do not need them. Surfactants can dry the hair/ fur and irritate the eyes and skin and have a toxic effect when released back into the environment.

Our Cat Shampoo is safe and gentle for cats 6 weeks and older and formulated specifically for a cat’s sensitive system.  Our cat shampoo is soothing and moisturizing and free of sulfates, parabens, synthetic dyes and fragrance.

Ear infections are common among cats. Just as they are in humans, ear infections are not only uncomfortable and sometimes painful, in cats they can also be a symptom of a more significant health issue. If left untreated, ear infections can lead to hearing loss or other health problems. If your cats ear infection persists, please contact your veterinarian.

Our pets are often considered our “babies.” But did you know that using baby wipes on your cat can be unsafe? Most baby wipes contain lotions and perfume, and while safe for humans, they’re harmful when wiped on your cat, as cats will lick and ingest what’s topically on them when they self-clean. Baby wipes can also be harmful to your cats’ sensitive eyes.

A great solution is the Pure and Natural Pet Grooming & Cleansing Unscented Pet Wipes. Our biodegradable pet wipes are perfect for cleaning and they’re a better choice for the environment. A traditional wipe can be drying to your pet’s skin. Our wipes are safe and gentle and clean while moisturizing their sensitive skin. Grooming and Cleansing Pet Wipes provide quick general clean-ups to remove dirt, debris and odor.

Our Wipes are free of Parabens and Sulfates. Parabens are known for penetrating the skin and causing tumors while sulfates strip away skins’ natural proteins and oil. Our gentle wipes are also oversized (7” x 8”) to make clean up even easier.

Our pet wipe is great for when you’re on the go and is a must have pet essential for your travel bag and pet carrier, so you’re prepared and your cat is always clean.

No time for a bath — no problem. Sometimes a traditional bath can be an issue for cats due to the weather or time constraints, and some cats just don’t like a “traditional bath.” That’s ok, we’ve got you covered with our Waterless Foaming -Fragrance Free- Cat Shampoo.

Our Waterless Foaming Shampoo is quick and convenient. The non-aerosol pump is a safer dispenser that’s easy to use and not harmful to the environment. Simply dispense and massage the no-rinse formula into the coat for a clean and stress-free bath. Towel dry for a clean and fresh smelling cat.
