Pure and Natural Pet is constantly developing and innovating new products and making improvements that provide better sustainability. This includes rethinking the ingredients we use, our manufacturing practices, and how we package our products.

Our original canine toothbrush was an eco-friendly plastic. However, we replaced it with a biodegradable Bamboo Toothbrush. Our Bamboo is harvested from a FSC Certified Forest. FSC Certified forests are responsibly managed and provide environmental, social and economic benefits. Bamboo is a replenishable resource. Bamboo grows more than 3 feet a day, significantly faster than other trees. Bamboo fibers are also naturally hypoallergenic making it an excellent eco-friendly toothbrush.

Traditional plastic toothbrushes can easily break and can be toxic if chewed as they are often coated with paint or dyes. Our ergonomic Bamboo Toothbrush has dental-grade nylon bristles that can be recycled. The handle is carved from one piece of FSC Certified, eco-friendly Moso Bamboo and coated for a more secure grip with a natural soybean wax, making our brush a safer choice for pet dental.

Our new and improved Canine Dental Kits have 50% less packaging waste than our original kits. Our eco packaging is also FSC Certified and printed with soy inks, making it even more environmentally responsible.

The Organic Dental Solutions® Dental Kits pair our eco-friendly Bamboo Toothbrush with our USDA Certified Organic Sweet Potato & Cinnamon Dental Gel that’s packed with multifunctional ingredients.

The USDA Certified Organic Sweet Potato Dental Gel is formulated specifically for canines. Using a “human” toothpaste for pets can have deadly consequences as they are often laden with Xylitol. Our paste is Xylitol free and has no chemicals, dyes, pesticides, GMO's, fluoride, artificial additives or preservatives. 

We retooled our packaging for our award-winning Ear Cleansing Kit. The new eco-friendly packaging replaces the old plastic container with a compostable ALOX coated container to improve sustainability.

Our eco-friendly Ear Cleansing Kit is ideal to quickly and safely clean your pet’s ears without worry. Our USDA Certified Organic Ear Cleansing Kit is free of dyes and perfumes. It comes with a 2 oz. USDA Certified Organic Ear Serum to help heal ears and 15 medical-grade Pure Tips for exceptional cleaning.

A lot of shampoos have perfume, dyes, surfactants, sulfates and parabens that can be problematic.

These toxic ingredients can also be harmful when washed down the drain as they end up in our ground water, waterways and oceans and affect marine and plant life.

Our USDA Certified Organic Shampoos are chemical-free and have no synthetic dyes or preservatives because your dog, and the environment do not need it. We carry Hypoallergenic, Grain-Free and a soothing Itch Relief option. Our bottles are a recyclable PET plastic. When recycled, PET is ground into flakes, then separated and cleaned according to market specifications. Recovered PET is then sold to manufacturers who convert it back into products. About 75% of the recovered PET is used to make carpet fibers, fleece, rope and yarn. Most of the remaining 25% is extruded into sheets for thermoforming, injected/blown into containers for non-food products, or compounded for molding applications.

It’s always important to be prepared for any emergency. Our trio of pet wellness balms are integral to being “pup-prepared” to quickly heal any minor cuts or abrasions. Human-safe ointments and balms are not necessarily safe for your dog, and can be detrimental if they lick it. All Pure and Natural Pet balms are made to food-grade standards so it’s safe for your pup if licked.

Our fast-acting Boo-Boo Balm, Paw Rescue and Nose Rescue  Wellness Balms are all made with safe USDA Certified Organic ingredients and free of chemicals, additives, dyes or perfume. Containers can be easily recycled.

Wipes are portable and handy for clean ups.  While Baby Wipes are great for a baby, they are usually laden with perfume and lotion that can be harmful to your pet, especially if your pet licks an area you’ve wiped and ingests chemicals. Baby Wipes end up in landfills and are a part of the 7.6 billion pounds of garbage and represent 30% of the non-biodegradable waste.

Our FSC Certified Unscented Biodegradable Pet Wipe is the safer choice for your pet and the planet.  They are free of parabens that can cause tumors and sulfates that can strip away the skin’s natural proteins and oils. Our biodegradable wipes are safe for all pets and infused with natural ingredients to not only clean, but hydrate and reduce inflammation. They also come in a flat pack for less packaging waste.

It’s important to look at the ingredients in Flea & Tick products. Many of them are not natural and feature caustic ingredients like DEET. This chemical can be toxic to animals, causing neurological complications. DEET can be absorbed through the skin and should never be applied to your pet. The higher the concentration, the more risk to the pet. Inhalation exposure can cause airway inflammation and dyspnea. GI upset is very commonly seen with exposure to DEET. With a concentrated product, you may see ataxia, disorientation, tremors, and seizures.

Our award-winning Flea & Tick products are all DEET FREE, Pyrethrin and Permethrin-free. Our popular Flea & Tick Spray bottle is free of pressurized gasses or other harmful substances. It also features eco-friendly Refills (sold separately) to reduce waste and improve sustainability.       

Our natural Flea & Tick products are safe and effective with no harsh chemicals to combat fleas and ticks on contact. The Lavender, Cedar, and Peppermint oils repel fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes to prevent infestation. The spray can be used directly on dogs, their bedding, or in areas that dogs frequent.

It all starts with using USDA Certified Organic Ingredients that are locally sourced. Organic Farming creates healthier soil and decreases pollution of a traditional farm that often use caustic fertilizers, chemicals, and pesticides that linger in the soil, atmosphere, and waterways long after application. Organic Farming also protects wildlife, insects, birds, and other wildlife that depend upon clean water and plant life to live, as synthetic chemicals drift into wooded areas and run off into waterways.

While there are many different types of pollution, industrial pollution a big issue because most pollution is caused by some industry, making it the most significant form of pollution on the planet.

Eco is part of our manufacturing practices at Pure and Natural Pet. Our 60,000 square foot facility is 100% solar powered and generates an average of 237 kilowatts for the grid. Solar energy is an eco-friendly solution and helps the planet be a greener place with renewable energy.

We’re also printing 75% less, using recycled paper for packing, shipping with carriers that are increasing electric fleets, and have recycle bins to reduce corporate waste and scrap.

Practices that improve sustainability have also trickled down to our efforts in philanthropy and work with One Tree Planted. Planting trees ensures biodiversity and provides a healthier future for our planet.

To date, the company has had a hands-on approach with our sustainability by planting trees and working on reforestation projects. We have planted trees in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, the U.S. Forest Service Parks and in east Africa. To date, Pure and Natural Pet has planted 3,613 Trees and we’re on track to plant our 4,000^th tree by Earth Day, 2023.

Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

Pure and Natural Pet served as 1 of 40 companies (2 from the pet industry) that participated in Advocacy Day virtual Hill Visits with the U.S. Senate on Climate Change working with Climateers Senator Edward Markey and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.

Pure and Natural Pet was invited by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse to participate in the 2022 Environment & Oceans Leaders Day alongside the Clean Energy Council, Watershed Council, The Oceans Project, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.)

Pure and Natural Pet is also an active member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition and Organic Trade Association.
